INTERNATIONAL real estate group CBRE has announced two key appointments to its rural sales team.
Col Medway, the successful managing director of Landmark Harcourts Capital at Yass, has joined CBRE as a director to head the firm’s six-strong rural business team in NSW and the Australian Capital Territory.
And Trish Brewer, his previous offsider at Yass, has gone across with him to take up a new role at CBRE marketing rural and lifestyle property in and around the ACT.
Mr Medway (pictured) had been one of Landmark’s top rural operators, last year achieving property sales of close to $70 million comprising mostly top-drawer Southern Tablelands grazing properties.
A native of the Gunning/Yass district, he has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Agriculture) and as well as being a licensed stock and station agent, he has worked in a range of advisory and marketing roles across the agribusiness spectrum.
Prior to establishing Landmark Harcourts Capital, Mr Medway oversaw the Landmark Copeland Medway business at Yass which he co-founded in 1995 and built into an 18-strong team providing a full range of rural services.
CBRE’s regional director, agribusiness, Danny Thomas, said Mr Medway would have a focus on marketing quality rural assets and further building the firm’s presence in NSW and the ACT.
“NSW is the biggest turnover market for rural property in Australia and we have seen a significant increase in investor demand over the past 12 months,” he said.
“Col has an enviable track record and his appointment will ensure we are continuing to provide the highest level of service and support to our agribusiness clients as the investment market continues to strengthen.”
Mr Medway said the decision to join CBRE as a director had been sparked by the ongoing globalisation of capital flows in the agribusiness sector.
“There is a broadening pool of local and international capital targeting Australian agribusiness assets,” he said.
“Unless you’re with an organisation that has a significant reach into the global capital markets and international clients, you’re not going to be able to facilitate the optimum results for your vendors.”
Ms Brewer, meanwhile, brings to CBRE more than nine years of experience in the real estate sector including four years at Landmark Copeland Medway focusing on rural, rural lifestyle and residential sales.
CBRE’s Canberra managing director Andrew Stewart said the appointment of Ms Brewer recognised the significant and growing market for rural/lifestyle properties in the Canberra region.
