THE state government has been chastised for dragging its heels over planned on-farm native vegetation walkthroughs with NSW Farmers.
NSW Farmers natural resources committee chairman Mitchell Clapham said no news of the proposed trials had been heard since December, despite indications from government it would visit farms in January.
“We’re really frustrated with it – we’ve not heard a thing,” Mr Clapham said.
“What had been said to be taking place in early January has not happened and now it’s early February.
“We’re getting closer and closer to the draft legislation and we haven’t done any of the on-farm ground proofing. We’re not sure what is happening.”
In response, Primary Industries Minister Niall Blair said government was working with NSW Farmers and a draft bill would follow consultation with stakeholders.
