HORSES, trailbikes and dogs were instrumental in a weekend operation that saw police process 300 cattle when investigating alleged rustling.
The NSW Police Rural Crime Unit in conjunction with the New England Local Area Command ran Operation Network in relation to the alleged theft of cattle in the Tenterfield region.
Police seized six head of cattle consisting of two Charbray cows with Angus cross Charbray calves, a Charbray cow, and a Charbray heifer. Police are seeking an order from the court to sell the said cattle at public auction.
Two Tenterfield males are currently assisting police with their inquires.
The weekend operation saw Rural Crime Investigators from across the state execute a search warrant at a rural property located east of Tenterfield.
The Rural Crime Investigation Unit presence included three horseback investigators, two trail bike operators, five rural crime Investigators and three dogs.
Police said six mobs of cattle were mustered over 3000 acres of extremely steep terrain.
More than 300 head of cattle were processed and DNA samples were taken.
The operation was a joint operation supported by the Police Wireless Networks Services Unit from Tamworth, the Casino RSPCA and Inverell Local Lands Services.
