THE future of Liberal politician Angus Taylor is again uncertain after MP Russell Matheson told Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull he wants to run for the party in Mr Taylor's seat of Hume at the election.
After originally agreeing to stay in his seat of Macarthur, which has been turned into a marginal Liberal seat by boundary changes, Mr Matheson told Mr Turnbull he had reconsidered. Almost half of Macarthur shifted into Hume in the redistribution.
Mr Matheson said he had the support of eight of the 10 branches in the seat. Mr Taylor's supporters dispute this emphatically.
Mr Taylor backed Tony Abbott in the leadership spill.
Nominations for pre-selection close on February 19.
