A SOUTHERN NSW farmer admitted to being “wheely confused” when one of his sheep turned up with a new fashion accessory.
Wagga Wagga accountant Mick Graham – who also runs 220 first-cross ewes at “Pine Park” –said a sheep presented at mustering recently with an old car tyre around its torso.
Mr Graham said the animal moved about freely with no sign of distress, and in fact looked pretty pleased with its well-rounded outfit.
“I don’t know how long it’d been wearing it for – maybe even a week?” he said.
“At first we were stumped at how we were going to get the tyre off, but I grabbed it as the ewe was walking past and it slipped its hind legs out.”
Mr Graham’s still not quite sure how the sheep got itself stuck. But he does have a few theories.
“We’ve got some tyres propped up to create a gap between the water trough and the fence. Maybe it’s climbed through?
“We’ve also got a few tyres around the place sitting with mineral licks in them.”
