MORE than 2700 cattle were yarded at Wodonga with the offering reflecting the drier season on many of the pens.
Elders Wodonga manager Matt Tinkler described the sale as “mixed quality, with only a small crowd of buyers”.
“But rates held on better quality cattle in line with what we have been seeing,” Mr Tinkler said.
Highlights included 21 Composite steers, 20 months weighing 498kg sold by W and H Richards, Mansfield, for $1495, while Rob and Joy Mackie, “Kaputar Park”, Gerogery sold 18 Angus steers weighing 321kg for $1105.
Ellis and Leanne Hamilton, “Cryptic Lodge”, Cudgewa Victoria sold 11 Charolias steers weighing 31kg for $1800.
36 Hereford heifers NSM weighing 416kg Tarabah-blood sold by HE Adams, “Glenholm”, Barooga for $1190.
Angie Durie, Boweya, Victoria sold five Red Poll cows with calves by Senepol bulls and rejoined to Red Angus bulls for $1650.
Local and Riverina restockers competed with feedlot operators for the offering.
Selling agents, Elders, Corcoran Parker, and Landmark, all from Wodonga conducted the sale.
