CUDAL farmer Tim Carroll has been named the chair of NSW Young Farmers at the group’s annual conference in Dubbo.
Genetics researcher Jo Newton will continue as vice chair.
Mr Carroll, 30, has been a leading voice on young farmer finance and the need to support the next generation as they start out in agriculture.
He was integral in NSW Farmers’ negotiations with the state government that secured the state its first young farmer finance officer.
Mr Carroll takes over from former chair Josh Gilbert, who quit the role in January in opposition to proposed land clearing reform.
The 2016 NSWYF committee is Tim Carroll, Jo Newton, Martin Murray, Felicity McLeod, Laura Bruce, James Kanaley, Laura Phelps, and Brendon Mansbridge.
Earlier in the day Deputy Premier Troy Grant unveiled James Leigo as the inaugural young farmer finance project officer.
