Demand, although easier, remained strong at the Roberts Ltd Powranna weaner sale in northern Tasmania on Thursday.
Competing for an offering of 3100 head the island's local restocker buyers remained firmly in command, absorbing some 80 percent of the yarding with the most successful mainland interest focused on northeast Victorian and the southern region of NSW.
A market top price of $1300 was paid for a pen of Stony Croft Angus steers weighed at 401kg while better drafts of steer weaners, 280-360kg made $1020-$1160 resulting in rates of 345-360c/kg for most.
Lighter steers made $800-$1050 a head while heifers mostly realized 300-330c/kg.
