One of Australia’s leading field days, Farm World, Warragul, Victoria, is set for another strong year with live demonstrations and a new equestrian expo rolled in.
Organiser, Mark Cockerell said the event was on-track to outperform previous years.
“There’s a series of initiatives we are adding including an equestrian expo at the newly built equestrian centre with more than 30 equine related exhibitors as well as showjumping, dressage and a masterclass style program running each day.
He said the added event reflected the size and importance of the horse industry in Gippsland and outer Melbourne.
Farm World is also introducing a young farmers focussed conference. “There’s a range of discussions on new technology, succession planning, alternate farming business structures, leadership opportunities in agriculture and being self employed in agriculture without owning farm assets and similar,” Mr Cockerell said.
“Farm World has been really fortunate with its success but we’ve also always tried to do a few new things, such as the Women in Agriculture function we’ve had for the past few years.”
Exhibition space is fully sold and visitors can expect to see a strong showing of dairy, hay, silage and cropping equipment as well as lifestyle farmer tools on display and in demonstration.
“Farm machinery is the real strength of the show and farmers looking for tractors, fodder and conservation equipment will be well served by as good as a range as is shown in Australia,” Mr Cockerell said.
“Hay and silage equipment is a real strength, and we have representation of all the key brands across all areas of agriculture.”
With a buoyant beef market and dairy in reasonable condition until recently - it is shaping up extremely well, Mr Cockerell said.
“The big crowds attend on Saturday and Sunday with the Thursday and Friday attendees dominated by the professional farmer.”
