ABOUT 30 commercial sheep producers from the North West gathered at “Welbondongah”, Garah, to hear about Electronic Identification Technology (EID) last week.
Tom Ferguson, as well as Dimity, Geoff and Lynn Hunter hosted a sheep field day on their property with guest speakers Jim Meckiff, Allflex and Francis Waddell, Practical Systems, Armidale.
The two speakers informed the sheep producers how adopting EID technology in their commercial flock would allow them to record individual data from their sheep and use that information to make management decisions.
They also demonstrated, using the Hunters new Peak Hill sheep handler, how the information could be recorded during normal management practices like marking.
