ACCORDING to Terry Mitchell, Fletcher International Exports, the re-vamped Dubbo Show Prime Lamb Hoof and Hook Competition is expecting more than 100 entries, with lamb numbers looking like they will hit the 600 head mark.
Lambs will be judged in weight classes for all breeds then the grand champion hoof and hook pen will be presented with the Paul Sinclair Memorial award. Each breed also has an overall winner.
The Prime Lamb Hoof and Hook charity auction will take place at 3.30pm on the Friday. Lambs will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the charity of the purchaser’s choice. The lambs are then killed by Fletcher International Exports and given to the purchaser cut up and boxed.
Last year 44 lambs were donated, raising $17,500 for 17 charities.
Correction: In last week’s April 21 edition of The Land the story on page 39, the incorrect photo and caption was run. Steve Crewel was in fact the 2014 winner and the Woodley family, Kurraview White Suffolks, Dubbo were the 2015 winners.
