IN the hope of luring the next generation of young cattle breeders and enthusiasts, organisers of the Ausmectin Northern Beef Week have changed the dates to coincide with the school holidays from June 27 to July 3.
The 2015 Ausmectin Northern Beef Week saw 57 studs in the states north open their gates to the public showcasing sale bulls and females to potential clients.
Most studs reported increased visitor numbers due to stronger cattle prices lifting confidence, but in a bid to boost the number of people attending, the dates have been altered.
Event organiser, Kirra Bogn, said participant feedback bought to light the fact that if held during school holidays it may encourage more visitors to make the trip.
“They could bring their children and introduce the next generation to some of the top genetics in the region,” Miss Bogan said. “We have a lot of new interest in the event this year and studs who have sat it out for a couple of years are now returning.”
The closing date for Northern Beef Week entries is Sunday, May 1. Online entry forms can be made by going to www.theland.com.au/beefweeks2016
