STATE Member for Orange Andrew Gee has won National Party preselection for Calare in the upcoming election.
Mr Gee will stand for the Central West seat of Calare, held at the 2013 election on a comfortable by John Cobb.
Mr Cobb announced he would not seek re-election, after entering federal parliament to represent the Central West in 2001.
Mr Gee has held the seat of Orange in NSW parliament since the 2011 election. He was re-elected in 2015.
The former barrister has been an outspoken critic against his own government’s Fit for the Future policy to merge local councils. Mr Gee is parliamentary secretary for the Deputy Premier Troy Grant and regional roads.
In the pre-selection contest he won party support to contest the July 2 election ahead of Orange councillor Scott Munro, wellington Councillor Alison Conn and Bathurst businessman Sam Farraway.
Mr Gee nominated regional development as a key issue for his campaign.
“The people of this electorate deserve decent infrastructure and services as much as anyone living in Sydney and Canberra,” he said.
“As a proud National, it is my goal to ensure that our issues are a top priority for the next government.”
