STRONG bidding from four states and from as far away as Canada pushed prices to $21,000 at the Speckle Park International multi-vendor sale at Scone on Saturday.
Twelve Speckle Park studs – AAA, Bigwig, Checkered, Dingo Creek, Ersyldene, Kahleatha, Nargun Den, Rose Hill, Steggles, Snowline, Three Way, and TT – had cattle in the sale.
Thirty two of the 44 bulls offered sold for a clearance of 73 per cent and average of $6187.
The 2015 Sydney Royal junior champion bull, Dingo Creek Knockout K08, topped the sale, selling to Victorian stud breeders Andrew and Melissa Van der Drift, Black Diamond Speckle Parks, Macorna.
The 22-month-old bull, by Almarlea E6 Kingsley from Dingo Creek Finesse, weighed 780 kilograms, measured 18 millimetres and 10mm for rump and rib fat, had a scrotal circumference of 39 centimetres and had an eye muscle area (EMA) of 124 square centimetres.
Mr Van der Drift said the bull, who was awarded champion bull prior to the sale, would be used in the stud herd of 30 breeders.
“We liked his overall balance, his even colour and the huge EMA,” he said.
The family also purchased the second highest selling bull, 21-month-old Vallelonga K47, by Almarlea 68G Lacerta F156 from Vallelonga 26T Kara 2, for $11,000. He weighed 730kg, measured 8mm and 6mm on the rump and rib, and had an EMA of 123 square centimetres.
Two bulls, Three Way Better Business K9 and Dingo Creek King Kong K10, sold for $8500 and AAA Moses J7 and Three Way Make a Stand L9 each made $8000.
Twenty two of the 24 stud females sold for a clearance of 92pc, topping at $10,500 and averaging 6113.
Three-year-old cow Three Way Halfpenny H5, by Star Bank Lacerta 68L from Codiak Shameless 17L, topped the females, selling to Ernie Bendeich, Dalwood.
The second highest selling female was Waratah E17, also by Star Bank Lacerta 68L, from Prairie Hill Dreamaker 88K. She was the champion female and sold for $10,000 and went to the Lewis family, Gulgong.
Checkered Gabby G414 sold for $9000 and Three Way Denim and Lace L1 and Three Way Star Stands Bright each sold for $8000.
The Van der Drifts were the volume buyers, purchasing three bulls averaging $13,500 and three females averaging $8166.
Other volume buyers included Vince McAuliffe, “Belvue”, Manilla, who purchased a bull for $6000 and four stud females for a top of $5500 twice and average of $5100 and Jamie Crawford, Glenvillan Pastoral Company, Kingaroy, who bought four bulls for a top of $8000 and average of $5875.
Mr Bendeich purchased three bulls averaging $6500 and two females averaging $8250, Jeff Hawkins, “Ardmour Park”, Gloucester, bought three bulls averaging $4333 and a cow for $5000 and Moree agency Pitman Deakin bought three bulls on behalf of clients.
The sale was conducted by MacCallum Inglis with Stuart Sheldrake and Jim MacCallum taking the bids.
