The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds for parts of the Illawarra, South Coast, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory Forecast Districts.
Issued at 4:08pm the Bureau stated a cold front crossing south eastern NSW was bringing west to north westerly winds.
Damaging winds averaging 60 kilometres an hour with gusts in excess of 90km/h, are possible about elevated parts of the ACT and the Snowy Mountains above 1500 metres until late Sunday evening.
In areas above 1900m, average wind speed may exceed 90km/h with gusts in excess of 120km/h.
Damaging wind gusts in excess of 90km/h are possible until late Sunday evening in parts of the Southern Tablelands and about the coastal ranges of the Ilawarra and South Coast districts.
Locations which may be affected include Charlotte Pass, Thredbo, Braidwood, Goulburn, Araluen and Nerriga.
The next warning is due to be issued by 11:10 pm.
