RABOBANK and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) are encouraging men to “get their engines checked” at this year’s Walgett Show between 9:30am and 4:30pm, Saturday and Sunday.
RFDS south eastern section chief executive officer Greg Sam said plenty of farmers would book their car in for a regular service, but are reluctant to see a doctor regularly.
With mental health a serious issue for the community after a long stint of drought, the RFDS will have doctors, nurses and psychologists at the show, doing free screenings for patients.
Creating more health awareness in rural Australia as well as encouraging prevention is the idea behind the screenings.
“We encourage any men at the show to stop for a full health check,” Mr Sam said.
