IF you’re partial to a dash of Shiraz then this property might be the one for you.
Peter and Anne Paffard’s Holbrook property “Bullinudgel” consists of 153 hectares featuring grazing country, bushland and, of course, three sets of shiraz vines.
The vines are in need of some tender loving care but when in full swing can produce up to 30 tonnes a year. In the past the owners have sold to Hungerford Hill Wines and McWilliam’s Wines.
Two of the three sets of vines were established in 1997 and the remaining vines were planted in 2001. All vines can be irrigated from a purpose built 12 megalitre dam.
Water on the property is highly reliable, Mrs Paffard said.
There are three dams in place which service the five fenced paddocks and a bore is available to supplement the rainwater tanks for the property’s modern homestead.
The four-bedroom house is of rammed earth construction and was built in 2002. It features 14 inch ceilings and a large north-facing deck.
“The house is comfortable in all seasons because the rammed earth has lovely insulation qualities,” Mrs Paffard said.
The Paffards have owned “Bullinudgel” for 15 years and are selling due to the ill health of Mr Paffard.
The sale is bittersweet for the couple who lost two of their four children in tragic circumstances in 1999. Many readers will remember learning of a helicopter crash which killed their son and daughter, Lieutenant Huw Paffard, and Jaya Paffard. Huw, an accomplished pilot, was flying his younger sister to her wedding ceremony on the family property at the time of the accident.
“Bullinudgel” will be auctioned on May 14 by Brian Unthank Real Estate, Albury.
