OPTIMISM was rife at Mudgee Small Farm Field Days, as recent rain and improved stock prices meant landholders were keen to stock up on supplies.
Metalcorp NSW rural manager Tony Fenwick, Dubbo, said it had been a great field day for his business and the site’s owner, Complete Steel and Rural, Mudgee. “We’ve seen a lot of people wanting Australian-made products and safety on farm,” he said.
Waratah Fencing salesman Daniel Crisp, Newcastle, had plenty of interest in feral fencing to keep kangaroos and dogs out of small acreage properties.
“Sales are always good as there is a lot of off-farm income here for people who work in Sydney,” he said.
Mick Crowe from Agfactor Seeders said he had given out quite a few quotes. “There are plenty of positive thoughts out there, with the sheep market, the wool market, the season and the cattle market all good,” he said.
Graeme Coady from Duncan Stockcrates, Forbes, said the site had been very busy.
“A lot of people want trailers because (stock) prices are up and there is big demand for stock,” he said.
