SUNNY weather enticed a large crowd to the July Dubbo goat sale which attracted 3800 head and prices jumping to more than $200 for Boer-cross wethers and Australian bush billies to $124.
P.T. Lord, Dakin goat specialist Joe Portelli, Dubbo, said the yarding increased by 1300 head on the last sale and the market for Australian bush goats (ABGs) was firm with several abattoirs and exporters operating.
“Lighter types were probably $5 to $10 dearer than last sale,” he said.
Boer wethers made from $65 to $125 with some extra heavy wethers selling from $110 up to $210 while Boer nannies sold from $50 to $115 in a firm market.
In the bush goat section ABG billies ranged from $86 to $107 with the odd billies making to $124.
Bush nannies sold from $35 to $85 averaging $65.
Paul Sanderson, “Carinya”, Condobolin, sold a draft of 15 Boer-cross wethers at $135 each, while Trevor Nash, “Cooba Bulga”, Cassilis, gained $100 a head for his draft of 165 ABG two-tooth billies.
