An outstanding line-up of youth will contest the LambEx 2016 Young Guns Competition at LambEx on August 10-12 at Albury, New South Wales.
Proudly sponsored by the Australian White Suffolk Association, the competition aims to support and celebrate the next generation in the lamb industry.
The 12 finalists include Early Career Professionals Jordan Hoban, NSW DPI, Cowra; James Preston, Preston Livestock Solutions, Bendigo, Victoria; Elise Bowden, Sheep Data Management, and Mary Chirgwin, Zoetis Australia, SA. In the Honours, Masters or PhD student section finalists include Cassius Coombs, NSW DPI Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation, Cowra; Maddison Corlett, Murdoch University, WA; Steve Connaughton, Murdoch University and Octavia Kelly, University of Adelaide, SA. In the High School or Undergraduate student section finalists include Josephine Webb, Marcus Oldham College, Vic; Laura Wishart, Marcus Oldham College, Bianca Agenbag, University of Adelaide, and Charlie Shadwell, Year 10, Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School.
Young Guns coordinator, NSW DPI’s Edwina Toohey, said all finalists displayed a high level of skill and knowledge of their industry.
“We had a record number of entries which meant we have an outstanding selection of finalists who will be at LambEx 2016,” she said.
“There’s a big focus on youth in the LambEx program, and I would encourage anyone who hasn’t already bought a ticket to make sure they purchase one before registrations close this Friday!”
