CONSTRUCTING rusty sculptures from recycled barbed wire was not the semi-retirement plan a grazier from Cowra was expecting, nonetheless, he has now finished a number of sculptures which are drawing a quite the crowd to his property.
Harold Treasure, “Shareville” Cowra, began building his first sculpture two months ago.
The idea took shape after deciding to restore an old plough on his property.
“It all began when I decided a plough needed to be restored to it’s finer years – then I realised, you can’t have a plough without a man – so I began looking for wire to make one,” Mr Treasure said.
“Then the idea stretched even further because then I realised you can’t have a plough and a man without a horse to pull it – what good is a plough without a horse?”
Each sculpture takes an average of two weeks from start to finish, collecting his material from his own property and generous neighbours.
The sculptures are on display at his property.
