BIDDING reached a top of $11,000 at the annual Coolie Angus second on-property sale at Merriwa last Friday.
All 31 bulls offered in the helmsman auction sold for an average of $6480.
The first bull offered, Coolie K1, reached the top price, bought by agent Chris Dobie, Landmark Townsend Scone, on behalf of the Cuan Pastoral Company, “Cuan”, Bunnan.
The 25-month-old son of Millah Murrah Highlander G18 and Coolie G066 had estimated breeding values of +42, +77 and +98 for 200-, 400- and 600-day weight.
Five bulls – Coolie K3, Collie K5, Coolie K8, Coolie K10 and Coolie K15 – each sold for $9000.
Stud manager Jamie Edmonds said there was a good mix of new and repeat buyers, with bulls going to Coolah, Cassilis, Tambar Springs, Merriwa, Maitland and Nundle.
“The sale was much stronger this year,” Mr Edmonds said.
“It think it was the perfect storm – cattle prices are sky high, we’ve had good rain, and the promise of more rain coming into spring,” Mr Edmonds said.
The sale was conducted by Davidson Cameron Clydsdale, Scone.
