A pair of yearling bulls, both sired by Ayrvale General G18, kicked off Friday’s 20th annual KO Angus bull sale bringing $20,000 and $12,000 respectively.
An average of $9594 was recorded on a complete clearance of 53 bulls.
KO G18 General L82 started the sale and set the barrier which was unbroken at $20,000.
The General G18 son was out of KO Miss Cheyenne F26.
L82 ranked in top one per cent of breed for Angus breeding index, and heavy grass Index and top 5pc for domestic and heavy grain index.
John and Sandra Harding, Jacob Resources, “Warragundi”, Goolma purchased the young sire, to join their extensive artificial insemination program.
“The genetics are a worthwhile investment, we were drawn to L82’s outstanding genetics, new pedigree, and to introduce another top female of KO herd into our commercial operation,” Mr Harding said.
They also purchased KO E343 Emperor L11, for $12,000 a Te Mania Emperor E343 son, ranked in the top 5pc of breed for domestic index and top 10pc of breed for Angus breeding, heavy grain and heavy grass indexes
The other yearling in the offering also sired by Ayrvale General G18 sold to Braidwood Cattle Co., “Kindervale”, Braidwood, for $12,000.
Braidwood Cattle Co. led the volume purchasers putting together six bulls for an average price of $8417.
Bringing the second highest money of $18,000 was a late addition to the offering KO 7229 Knighthood K54, a 1020 kilogram 24 month-old son of Connealy Consensus 7229 out of KO Dream F75.
Knighthood K54 was purchased by Frank and Andis Sorraghan, Rockwood Angus, Wagga Wagga for stud duties.
The Sorraghan’s also purchased two additional bulls to average $13,500 on the trio.
Adtek Pastoral, Wean, also significantly contributed putting together six bulls to a top of $9000 and an average of $6500. The sale was conducted by Elders Rural Services with Andy McGeoch and Joe Wilks taking the bids.
