IT WAS de ja vu for Poll Boonoke stud, Deniliquin, which exhibited the junior March-shorn champion ram of the 2016 Rabobank National Merino Sheep Show and Ram Sale at Dubbo with the stud’s Riverina Ram of the year for a second consecutive win.
At Dubbo on Tuesday, the stud’s March-shorn, two-tooth class winner PB150026, was judged champion medium wool Poll Merino ram of the short wools and then junior champion March-shorn ram after standing against Poll and Merino champions. This was exactly what happened last year with PB140948, also a Riverina Ram of the Year winner and the Dubbo grand champion poll ram.
The Rabobank Merino National judging began on Tuesday with March-shorn exhibits and yesterday with August wools, then last night the announcement of the Australian Supreme Merino Ram 2016. As well, 150 Merino wethers from 50 high schools contested the School Wether Challenge.
The annual Merino ram sale concludes the three-day fixture starting at 11am this morning.
