TOWALBA stud owned by the Kopp family at Peak Hill have sold the $30,000 top priced ram at this year’s National Merino ram sale at Dubbo on Thursday.
The reserve champion Poll Merino, weighing 128 kilograms with a 18.3-micron fibre diametre, was snapped up by Argentinian buyers through stud classer Michael Gough.
Sixty-five rams sold at auction from the 84 offered to an average of $6342, an increase of over $300 on last year’s result, but in comparison, 15 more rams were sold than 2015.
Five rams sold to overseas buyers including the second highest price ram, a 131kg Poll ram from Dubbo stud, Roseville Park, which went for $26,000.
Langdene stud from Dunedoo also sold a ram to Argentina buyers for $14,000, and Nerstane stud, Woolbrook, sold two rams to Uruguay for $20,000 and $9000.
