CONNECTIONS of Bowness Stud should be highly excited of news on two fronts relating to their Group winner and shuttle sire Bullet Train, who is standing his fourth stud season at the Young district property.
The immediate stud success of champion racehorse Frankel with his first two-year-old progeny is massive, as the Galileo son is a three-quarter-brother to the English juvenile winner and Group winning three-year-old, Bullet Train.
Frankel made a flying start to his stud career this year with his first five starters in England all being winners and which included two stakes placegetters.
In Australia, Frankel is represented with a handful of Southern Hemisphere time bred two-year-olds.
Five of them were sold at Australasian sales with a high of $1.6 million while one has been retained to race. This is a filly bred and owned by well-known John Singleton, of Strawberry Hill Stud, and is the first foal of champion racemare More Joyous, and is now named Woman.
38 Bullet Train yearlings sold for an average of $37,500
Also named, is another Australian-bred filly foal that was born at Julie Harris’ Holbrook Thoroughbreds, Scone. Produced from South African Group 1 winner Chocolicious, this filly is Mazaaher.
In America, where Bullet Train stands his northern hemisphere seasons, the Sadlers Wells stallion has been represented by his first two-year-old winner.
On debut, Difamante won at Gulfstream Park in Florida, becoming the first winner world-wide for Bullet Train.
Earlier this year Bullet Train’s first Australian progeny proved popular with buyers at public auctions. A total of 38 Bullet Train yearlings sold for an average of $37,500, his colts selling to $150,000, while fillies went to $110,000. Many are on the books of trainers, including Gai Waterhouse, Chris Waller, Gerald Ryan, Darren Weir, John Sargeant, Neville Parnham and Anthony Freedman.
By iconic European sire and world influential stallion Sadler’s Wells, Bullet Train stands alongside Australian-bred sires of winners Bon Hoffa and Walking Or Dancing. A Melbourne Group 1-winning sprinter, Bon Hoffa progeny are winning all over the eastern seaboard.
A grandson of Danzig via his outstanding sire son Belong To Me, Bon Hoffa has sired more than 86 winners, two stakes winners, including Bon Aurum (won MRC Caulfield Guineas Prelude-G3). Walking Or Dancing was a Group 3-winning son of champion international sprinter Falvelon, who represents the Nearctic sireline. Falvelon is by another brilliant sprinter Alannon, a half-brother to champion Australian three-year-old and sire Zeditave.
