With increasing interest in producing quality Merino wool from heavy fleeces, wool brokers Moses and Son, Temora and Young initiated a fleece weight competition which finished during the Henty Machinery Field Days.
Commencing during the Southwest Slopes Stud Merino Field Day at Harden Showground, Moses & Son also decided to have the competition to promote their new on farm fleece weighing service.
On the final day at Henty, it was announced the correct weight of the fleece was 6.8kg and was won by Martin Moran, Bribbaree, NSW.
