Held last Tuesday, the annual first cross ewe sale account Gnadbro Pastoral Company, Collingullie, saw 4900 one mark ewes top at $270 to gross $1,225,000, with average of $250.
The sale is traditionally held on the property, but was moved to the Narrandera saleyards due to continuing wet conditions.
The April/May 2015 drop ewes, July shorn and scanned empty were sired by Cadell Border Leicester rams out of “Tupra” blood and bred Merino ewes.
Landmark Wagga Wagga, agent Jarrod Slattery said “Nothing was sold under $200.”
“It was a credit to the Bruckner Family on the presentation of the ewes, they were exceptional,” Mr Slattery said.
“Fifty percent of the buying support was from new clients to the sale which was a highlight to the vendors.”
Mr Slattery noted the sale is unique in that 5000 ewes one mark account the breeder are offered.
“The Bruckner’s have bought more country and are building their breeding numbers up to hold their on-property first cross ewe lamb sale in January potentially offering 3000 young ewes, with the traditional sale of 5000 ewes in September,” he said.
Buying support came from the following areas: Warnambool, Wangaratta, Wagga Wagga, Cowra, Cootamundra, Leeton and Albury.
