Bauer Border Leicester stud held their 3rd annual ram sale on AuctionsPlus, topping $1200.
Thirty lots were sold at the Ariah Park stud sale, for a $782 average.
The top price ram was sold to repeat buyer Mitch Lions, “Yarrawonga Downs”, Molong, who also snapped up another ram for $770.
Mr Lions said the frame, size and growth rates of the Bauer rams has built his confidence over the years.
“We breed replacement first-cross ewes for clients and they are very happy with the results; they are proving to have the growth rates and fertility,” Mr Lions said.
The second highest price was $810 and was sold to new client Brian and Amanda Protheroe, Grenfell, who also brought an $810 ram.
Volume buyer on sale day was repeat buyer Phil Halden, Barellon, who won the bid on six rams, topping $790, for a $770 average.
Bauer Border Leicester stud, principal, Jamie Buerckner, said the sale result was pleasing, given four new clients showed confidence in the stud’s breeding.
He said the market demand for first-cross lambs has aided in the Border Leicester ram popularity.
“The top ram was from our show team which we have taken to Sydney, Melbourne and the Australian Sheep and Wool show – he’s a very long ram with plenty of meat,” Mr Buerckner said.
