AUSTRALIAN White sheep breed enthusiasts from four states converged on Dubbo showground on Friday, October 21 for the inaugural National Aussie White show and sale which resulted in 48 rams selling to $15,000 to average $2298 and 19 stud ewes topping at $2400 and averaging $1353.
Eight studs participated in the first national fixture which began in a show featuring 20 stud ewes and 35 stud rams with two judges, Phillip van Schalkwyk, B&B Farms, Coonabarabran, and James Frost, Hillden stud, Crookwell, officiating.
Intermediate champion from the Gilmore family’s Baringa stud, Oberon, made top money during the sale at $15,000 selling to Graham and Vivienne Lander, Landara stud, Wattle Flat, South Australia.
Senior and grand champion ram also from Baringa stud, sold at $9000 to Geoff and Jenny Blohm, Remah stud, Hamilton, Victoria.
Baringa stud also sold another ram privately for $12,000 during the sale to Malcolm and Kerrie Plum, Kalnari stud, Tarcutta, the losing bidders on the top-priced ram.
Highveld stud, Mendooran, exhibited junior and grand champion ewe and junior champion ram while Grathlyn stud, Hargraves exhibited senior champion ewe.
