A $15,000 top-price among 18 stud rams averaging $3689 and a $1463 average for 30 flock rams heralds a new national breed show and sale.
This with 19 stud ewes topping at $2400 to average $1353 was the result of the inaugural Australian White National Show and Sale at Dubbo last Friday when breeders from four States bought 67 head.
With a team of 11 head Ian and Brayden Gilmore and family’s Baringa stud, Oberon, topped the sale with four stud rams averaging $7875, two flock rams averaging $1900 and five stud ewes selling to $1600 three times to average $1420.
Their intermediate champion at $15,000 was purchased by Graham and Vivienne Lander, Landara stud, Wattle Park, South Australia, based on Highveld blood.
Graham Lander said the 14 month-old Baringa Grunt ET was a different bloodline to their flock and an ideal ram for their program.
Senior and grand champion ram Baringa National sold at $9000 when bought by Geoff and Jenny Blohm, Remah stud, Hamilton, Victoria, who bought seven ewes on the day for $1314 average.
This ram was a 17 month-old son of 2014 Adelaide Royal Show champion Baringa Casper.
Sire of all four junior broad-ribbon ram and ewe winners for Highveld stud, Mendooran, was Sydney Royal reserve champion HVD140881, the 23 month-old Myomax Gold carrier made $8000 to Dubbo supporters, Craig and Caroline Chad, Double D Pastoral, “Jabiru” who bought the top-priced rams at Highveld’s last two on-property sales.
Highveld’s four stud rams avergaed $3825, 11 flock rams to $2000 averaging $1464 and nine stud ewes sold to top price of $2400 and $1467 average.
Buyer of the top ewe was Grathlyn stud, Hargraves, who had shown senior champion ewe, a daughter of Baringa Casper.
Grathlyn sold four stud rams to $2600 averaging $2138, six flock rams to $1600 to average $1333 and three stud ewes averaging $1133.
Kanoona Park stud, Curban, sold three stud rams to $3400 averaging $2383 and six flock rams to $2800 averaging $1467.
Lukina stud, Gulgong, averaged $1300 for three stud rams, $1200 for a flock ram and two stud ewes at $1000.
Kevin and Helen Zimmer, Meadow Glen Station, Cobar, bought one flock ram at $1800 and seven stud ewes for a $1443 average.
The sale was conducted by Landmark, Dubbo, with John Settree the auctioneer.
