Held at Cooma show grounds last week, the offering at the 37th annual Monaro White Wool multi-vendor sale attracted a great deal of interest from the four studs of Boudjah, Snowy Plain, Snow Vale and Main Range.
Landmark stud stock and auctioneer, Rick Power, Grenfell, said the sale always attracts a large crowd and allows local buyers to buy out of either fine, fine/medium, and medium wool lines.
Michael Green’s Boudjah Merino stud recorded the top-price with New England producers E.C. and M.P. Sisson, “Lone Pine”, Guyra, paying $4500 for a 20.7-micron ram from the One Oak National bloodline.
The second highest price ram came from the Steve Tozer’s Main Range stud with E.G. Gregory, “Freshford”, Tharwa, securing the 17.6-micron son of Roseville Park 2792 for $4200.
Michael and Katrina Hedger’s offering reached highs of $3750 in the Snowy Plain draft for a ram secured by Dooerdown Pastoral Company, Brit Brit, Victoria.
In the Snowy Vale Poll Merino draft $2600 was the top dollar. purchased by Coolamatong Partnership, “Coolamatong”, Berridale.
Main Range lead the averages recording $2048 for a complete clearance of the 21 rams offered.
Boudjah sold 68 of the 73 offered to average $1513 and Snowy Plains sold 14 of 18 offered recording an average of $1396.
Snow Vale averaged $1229 for 14 of the 20 offered.
Wandella Pastoral Company, “Wandella”, Goulburn, purchased three rams from the Main Range offering with a top-price of $3400 reached for an average price of $2433.
Also purchasing Main Range sheep was Connorville Station, Cressy, Tasmania, who secured three rams to average $2067, paying to a top of $2400.
While both Fraser Bros, “Thornleigh”, Adaminaby, and Peter Vlandis, Avonside, put together drafts of three Main Range rams to average $2000 and $1733 respectively.
Coonerang Estate, “Coonerang”, Cooma, led the volume buyers taking home 11 Boudjah rams to an average price of $1786 and topping at $2750.
Eastleigh Pastoral Company, Goulburn, paid to $2500 as they put together seven of the Boudjah rams for an average of $1643.
Emma Jefferson, Kybeyan, brought well securing five Boudjah rams at $800 each.
Volume buyers from the Snowy Plains and Snow Vale offerings included Coolamatong Partnership, “Coolamatong”, Berridale, who purchased five rams for an average of $1600 and Dooerdown Pastoral Company, Brit Brit, Vic, who averaged $2250 for three rams.
The sale was conducted by Landmark and Monaro Livestock and Property with Rick Power and Pat Cleaver sharing the auctioneering duties.
