Strong support from loyal buyers saw the annual on property Merino ram sale account Greendale Merinos operated by McGufficke Partners reach a top of $4500 and average $1935 for 76 rams sold.
Speaking after the sale, co-principal Alan McGufficke said his great sale result is a reflection on strong prices for stock and wool and the strong showing of Greendale-blood wethers in trials.
“It is great to see confidence in the Merino industry,” he said.
“We had lots of local support, returning clients and new buyers following the success of our bloodlines in profitability performance trials.”
Return client Jack Glasson, “Jimenbuen”, Dalgety, paid top price of $4500 for his first choice of new sire, and followed up with a second purchase for $4000.
“He was a very well balanced ram and the highest ranked in the catalogue,” Mr Glasson said.
Among many who took home significant drafts, long term clients, BJ and EA Dwyer, “Derrymore”, Alectown, paid to $2500 in their draft of seven rams which averaged $1472.
The sale was conducted by Elders, Cooma, with Steve Ridley, Elders, Goulburn, taking the bids.
