Once again, the Monaro Committee for Cancer Research (MCCR) in Cooma has held a very successful fund raising event.
On Saturday November 12, the property “Springwell”, Cooma was the venue for the MCCR’s third biennial garden party.
Hosted by Sid and Leslie Downey, more than 300 people attended the party, enjoying a gourmet luncheon and the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping from a variety of stalls.
MCCR president Sandy Schofield said final figures are not yet available, but she is hopeful of raising a lot of money in support of cancer research.
“Last year we raised over $15,000 and it would be nice to think we have done better than that,” Mrs Schofield said.
“The committee were overwhelmed by the support from the community, and I especially want to thank Leslie and Sid Downey for making their beautiful garden available. .
“I was a fantastic day and everybody had a great time.”
