A BUOYANT rural sector has provided enough confidence for acreage near Barellan to sell for what is believed to be a record for the district.
The property “Glenlea” was sold at auction last week and commanded $1130 an acre. It was believed the next best result previously achieved in the district was about $750 an acre.
Selling agent Mark Flagg, who is principal of Mark Flagg Livestock and Property, said the sale was certainly indicative of a bright outlook for the rural sector.
He said there were some big yields being achieved in the region – and to the north – from winter crops.
Mr Flagg said the sale of “Glenlea” on Tuesday November 22 attracted eight registered bidders.
The holding is 650 acres and located between Barellan and Leeton.
The property was sold by Jim and Cheryl Williams to Greg Eckley of Leeton,
Mr Flagg said the purchasers of “Glenlea” were consolidating their existing livestock enterprise.
