Hilltops Council has been flooded with more than 2000 submissions over the plan to build a large piggery about seven kilometres out of Harden.
The piggery proposal, which has divided public opinion in the area, is now set to be looked at by two NSW government departments overseeing the $12 million plan on “Eulie”.
Once Hilltops Council has collated and copied the submissions it will be sent to the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and the Office of Environment and Heritage to help in final reports.
The departments have 21 days after receiving the submissions to return their final reports to Hilltops Council. Those reports are expected back to council early in February. Council confirmed there were at least 2000 submissions on the piggery proposal. As recently as December 16, Blantyre Farms, proponents of the piggery, were in meetings with the EPA and council answering questions on odour issues to do with the development.
