RECENT wins for Supreme Girl, Prolific Outrage, Ample On Offa, Sallanches, Antagonist, and Mr Swift are all good news for prospective buyers of youngsters at the annual Dubbo Thoroughbred Yearling Sale scheduled for Sunday, January 22.
Winners of two races from three starts, Supreme Girl and Prolific Outrage are by proven sire of winners Supreme Class, a Redoute’s Choice stallion standing at Paul Dingwall’s Caithness Stud, south of Cowra. Supreme Class will be represented with seven youngsters at the Dubbo auction, including a half-sister to Country Championship Qualify winner Lofty’s Menu.
Ample On Offa, Sallanches and Antagonist are all by Bon Hoffa who will be represented with three yearlings with all being offered from the prolific sire’s stud home of Bowness Stud near Young.
Bowness Stud, a regular seller at the Dubbo sale, will also offer youngsters by young sires Bullet Train, a three-quarter-brother to Frankel, and group winner Walking Or Dancing.
Four-year-old Alert gelding Mr Swift was a $10,000 Dubbo sale graduate and has repaid his owner almost five times over from three wins and six placings.
Another graduate includes the Port Macquarie-trained Eavesdropper gelding Another Charger, a $172,000-earning bred and sold from Emirates Park, Murrurundi, who will have a draft of 10 at this year’s auction.
While six-year-old Another Charger made $16,000 at the 2012 Dubbo yearling sale, Way We Go cost his Hawkesbury trainer Garry Frazer just $4000 at the 2013 Sale edition. By California Dane, Way We Go won two races – from only three starts – at Randwick and Warwick Farm, with $103, 775 in earnings.
A total of 60 lots are catalogued for this year’s sale, from 21 sires.
Close relations to recent Sydney stakes winner Boss Lane feature from the draft of youngsters on offer via successful breeder Neil and Margaret Johnson, from Geurie. To date Boss Lane has won $485,710, with his relations at the sale including a filly by Arlington and a colt by Eyeful.
The Arlington filly, lot 17, is also a half-sister to stakes-placed Soapy Star, an earner of $314,425. A half-brother to champion New Zealand sire Savabeel, Arlington is currently making his mark as a young sire of winners and which includes Magic Arli and Fast Arli.
Eyeful, also now a sire of winners from few track representatives, is a rare sire son of wonderful Australian bred sire Strategic.
The sale includes one youngster by high profile first season sire Eurozone, who is among the first crop by ill-fated outstanding sire Northern Meteor, by Encosta de Lago.
Eurozone, a chestnut son of Northern Meteor, won two Sydney stakes races as well as being placed twice at group 1 level. His filly will be offered by Kooringal Stud near Wagga Wagga.
The sale, held undercover at Dubbo Showgrounds, will be conducted by Peter Milling and Company, Dubbo.
“It’s a country trainers’ sale; you can buy a sound yearling at Dubbo and have a bit of fun with it,” Mr Milling said.
