As the heatwave in NSW continues, Greater Sydney and the Hunter Region are both subject to a total fire ban today.
Temperatures are predicted to reach the high 30s today, with forecasts of 36 in Parramatta, 38 in Newcastle, 42 in Singleton and 39 in Penrith, which are all in the total fire ban area.
Further west and temperatures will remain hot with Bourke set for 44, Walgett 43, Dubbo 39, Ivanhoe 38, Condobolin 40, and Tamworth 38, while in the Riverina Griffith is set for 36.
Firefighters will continue the battle to contain 35 blazes burning across the state, with yesterday’s 40-degree temperatures contributing to out-of-control fires near Cessnock, Dungog and Kempsey.
Hot winds will make conditions more difficult for fire crews fighting fires today, with dry pastures creating ideal conditions for grass fires to spread.
