FIFTEEN smart, confident showgirls headed west to Walgett on the weekend to vie for their spot on The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl circuit.
Warialda showgirl Courtney Loosemore and Narrabri showgirl Ellen John wowed the judges with their passion for agriculture and rural communities demonstrated through their studies, work, and volunteer contributions.
Miss Loosemore is an administration assistant at Ceres Agricultural Co in Warialda. She has returned to the district after attending boarding school in Toowoomba and university in Brisbane. She holds a Bachelor of Business and is a dedicated member of her local show.
Originally from Griffith, Miss John teaches primary school children in Narrabri. She’s passionate about securing results for indigenous and remote children and spends a great deal of her time playing sport to embed herself in the school community.
This year Miss John has taken on the role of vice president of the Narrabri Show Society.
The talented pair were sashed in front of a crowd of 200 who packed the Walgett Sporting Club.
Miss Loosemore and Miss John will now join the other zone competition winners at Sydney Royal for a huge week of networking and personal development. Only one showgirl will be crowned The Land Royal Sydney Showgirl and will take over from 2016 winner Grace Eppelstun, Grenfell.
