An accountant, a nursing student and a midwifery student are heading to Sydney to represent Agricultural Societies Council Zone 6 at 2017 The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl competition.
The finals were hosted by Cowra Show Society on March 4 where 20 girls from across the zone competed for the opportunity to represent their local show in Sydney on April 9.
Canowindra Show Societys Meg Austin had intended to study various areas in health at university, either in midwifery, speech pathology or medicine.
She is studying a Bachelor of Midwifery at Southern Cross University ( Coffs Harbor campus), and she is in the midst of assignments for ATSI care ( Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) in the inequities they experience in relation to their healthcare needs.
She is passionate about rural health and taking care of people in the community and wishes to eventually work with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
She believes she can make a positive impact on the lives of people when they are unwell and sometimes at their worst.
She has keen sporting interests and participation in hockey, soccer, touch football and netball.
Grenfell Showgirl Francesca Scutella, Collingwood, Caragabal, has a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Technology and is studying a Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accounting.
Francesca was raised in the city and moved to Caragabal with her partner and are planning to buy more land and continue to grow their farming partnership.
She has a keen interest in the local sports such as horse riding and dressage, tennis leisure and is a reserve for Forbes competition and touch football.
As she has transitioned from being a city girl, she intends to make her city counterparts aware of the great opportunities a rural life can provide.
Peak Hill showgirl Mikaela Dart is a nursing student and working at Peak Hill MPS, achieving her certificate IV in veterinary nursing and she is currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing at CSU Dubbo.
Mikaela is very passionate about the lack of health and medical services throughout the rural communities and hopes to continue her career path either in palliative care and mental health into the future.
She has also a keen interest in soccer, netball and touch football.
