DONATIONS of wool from NSW clients totalling 92 bales are set down for auction in Melbourne next week with proceeds heading to Ronald McDonald House Westmead.
Quality Wool’s annual charity wool auction attracted some 14,000 kilograms for the next wool sale season in Melbourne on March 15, according to NSW Operations Manager, Chris Scott, Parkes.
“Our charity auctions have raised more than $150,000 for the ‘home away from home’ that supports families with seriously ill children attending the Children’s Hospital at Westmead,” he said.
“Growers have generally donated a butt or two with their clips which are normally auctioned in November.
“However we delayed to March to avoid the harvest period and summer holidays, plus the heat extremes .”
Mr Scott said the new timing had enabled new growers to contribute wool towards the initiative.
A cocktail function on Thursday, March 30 at Parkes Service Club will celebrate the results and thank donors for their contribution.
