TOP genetics and high quality is what’s on the radar for this year’s Royal Angus Sale at the Sydney Royal Show.
The sale kicks off at 5pm on Sunday, April 9, at the RAS sale amphitheatre, located in the Sydney Showground near the cattle judging ring.
The sale will offer 12 Angus bulls from varying studs, as well as 16 stud Angus females and five genetic packages from multiple vendors.
Vendors have come from four different states, including newcomers Platinum Angus, all the way from Tasmania.
Another newcomer to the sale is South Australian stud Glatz’s Black Angus.
Elders stud stock agent Josh Crosby, Dubbo, said it was good to see vendors from states who weren’t usually in the sale.
Mr Crosby said the benefit from attending the Royal sale was the range of new genetics available from different breeders.
Bringing together studs from multiple states gives buyers the opportunity to source genetics from areas they wouldn’t usually have access to, which Mr Crosby said was a huge bonus.
Mr Crosby said diversity in vendors also meant producers could come to the sale and purchase a bull or female to suit any market.
The line-up quality has always been second to none at the sale.
Mr Crosby said producers were offering cattle they had thought highly enough of to enter into the Sydney Royal Show.
The stock quality for this year was expected to be first class, especially on the back of such a good market result at the sale last year.
“I think the event would be the most prestigious multi-vendor Angus sale in the country,” Mr Crosby said.

“It’s a great sale to buy bull and female genetics.”
Last year, the sale topped at a massive $30,000 for the 2016 Sydney Royal reserve senior bull, J and C Kingpin K18 from the Halliday family’s J and C stud, Wildes Meadow, near Kangaroo Valley.
At last year’s sale 13 bulls sold to an average of $9800 and 16 females sold to an average of $7780.
The 12 embryo packages on offer sold for an average of $800.
Mr Crosby said the sale’s average turned out to be one of the best Angus averages in the state last year.
With even higher quality expected at this year’s sale, Mr Crosby said the market would be strong.
