The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Metropolitan, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and parts of the Hunter, Central West Slopes and Plains and South West Slopes forecast districts.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area in the next few hours.

Locations which may be affected include Penrith, Parramatta, Nowra, Bowral, Orange, Mudgee, Bathurst, Katoomba, Goulburn, Yass, Dubbo and Parkes.
The next warning is due to be issued by 6pm
