FINALISATION of the Rouse family’s Santa Gertrudis herd dispersal last Thursday resulted in PTIC heifers making from $1160 to $1770 in a very strong market at Dunedoo store cattle sale.
Leslie Rouse established the Blairmount herd in 1975 at Gulgong and has used Cobbora bulls for the past 40 years. Now retired, the business is winding up.
The 130 PTIC Santa Gertrudis heifers plus 40 same aged by Angus sires all to calve June-July, sold down to $1160 while 100 purebred steers eight to 10 months topped at $1120.
Buyers from Narrabri, Warren and Manilla competed against local and Coolah restockers in what selling agent, Angus Stuart of Milling Stuart, Dunedoo, said was a very strong sale for sellers and buyers.
The McClure family, “Willunga”, Cassilis, sold 24 steers at $1100, while the Fergusson family, “Moreton Bay South, Dunedoo, gained $1880 each for PTIC Shorthorn cows.
The Armstrong family’s Pemcaw Shorthorn herd, Dunedoo, gained $1700 each for 13 two-year-old PTIC heifers to Poll Shorthorns.
