TALK about big rain across the region meant some farmers were hesitant to sell their young stock before next week’s calf and weaner sale in Cooma.
We are very happy with the price we got for both lots of cattle we had we had on offer.

As a result, there were 3421 prime Monaro steers and heifers sold to limited local buyers and a large sum of outside buyers from three states from South Australia, Victoria and NSW.
Buyers were looking for lighter end younger stock to finish during autumn and following the downpour of rain.
Of the 200 Angus and Hereford steers sold in the 12 to 18 month age bracket, the top price was for a pen of 13 heavy end Angus steers from Andrew Lysaght which sold for $1490.
Prices varied throughout the day, many of the larger cattle brought about $1100-$1250 and the smaller end of the calves sold for $1000-$1365.
More than 900 heifers were offered and they topped at $1200 for 36 Angus from Culgoa Pastoral Company, NSW.

“You can’t complain given the amount of good quality cattle had here today.”
