Limousin judge Rob Dixon, visiting the Sydney Royal Show from his home base in Alberta, was telling the truth when he said the Limousin genetics on display were among the best anywhere in the world.
I sincerely expected to see quality when I came here but I was blown away, he said after the judging had finished. The top end of exhibitors were representative of the best genetics.
Grand champion female Summit Meadowgrass 2149 H39, exhibited by Hayden Green, Summit Limousin stud, Uranquinty via Wagga, went on to claim best exhibit.
Mount View Orchards, Barlow, were awarded Junior champion female with Flemington Fleur L23 out of Flemington Fleur F2 by Flemington Exception E19 with judge Rob Dixon choosing the 20 month old intermediate champion female over the 12 month old champion calf, Flemington Unreal M15 also bred by Donna and Ian Robson of Mount View Orchards.
Reserve intermediate champion went to Birubi Lucky Lady L144 bred by Mrs Annette Tynan.
The best two females not over 20 months was presented to Mount View Orchards with Annette Tynan second and Mr Hayden Green third.
Female calf champion and reserve in the Limousin breed was awarded to Mt View Orchards, Barlow, with twin sisters, 12 months, created by embryo transfer out of Flemington Unreal G67 by Greenwood Pld Zambuka.
Sires progeny was won by Mount View Orchards, Batlow with Annette Tynan, Birubi, in second and third places.
Dams progeny was won by Annette Tynan, Birubi, with Scott Myers and Samantha Beresford in second and Mount View Orchards, Batlow, third.
Breeders Group was won by Mount View Orchards, Batlow, with Annette Tynan, Birubi, second and Scott Myers and Samantha Beresford third.
Judge Rob Dixon, Alberta, told the assembled audience that one could travel the world and it would be hard to find a stronger line of young Limousin females.
Australia should be proud, he said.
Balance, power and femininity were the key ingredients in making his decision.
Limousin sale
Sydney Limousin sale, held in the cattle sheds at the royal show by the Elders team, sold to a top of $7000 for Birubi Mistress M56 to Mary Parsons with genetics being the key factor in its purchase.
The 12 month old calf out of Birubi Heavens Gold by Donna Valley Poll Dictator has a history of royal show ribbons in her lineage.
Of the 16 lots offered, of which three were genetic packages, nine were sold with the two bulls averaging $5250. Myers Leading Lane, 19 months, sold for $5500 to Mystic Ridge on the Hawkesbury. Iseco Luster L3 sold for $5000 to Elders Scone.
There was more response from the females, with five lots selling to an average of $5300.

Top River M5381, 14 months, sold for $6000 to the Porter family at Swim Creek, Merriwa.
Bernicia P Melody Shock M123 by Mark and Ursula Watts sold for $5000 to L&S Transport, Gloucester. Iseco Mini Mouse from Tom Isedale sold to Dubbo College for $2500.
