WALGETT locals have locked in a big celebration before sowing season and have invited you to come along and raise money for a great cause.

The Triple O Ball is on at the Walgett showground and racecourse on Friday, April 21, kicking off at 7:30 pm.

Event organisers, Alice Davies and Janelle Yeomans said the ball’s aim was to raise money for the emergency services in the Walgett region most in need of financial support.

The Walgett emergency services include the hospital, ambulance service, the local police, the fire service, the rural fire service and the State Emergency Service (SES).

It’s absolutely crucial for Walgett to have these types of emergency services, for people that live in town and out on properties - Triple O Ball committee member, Alice Davies

Miss Davies said when the idea for the ball first came up, it was a unanimous decision to raise money for the local community.

The local emergency services were chosen as donation recipients as Miss Davies said everyone in the community relied on them so heavily.

“It’s absolutely crucial for Walgett to have these types of emergency services, for people that live in town and out on properties,” she said.

“We want to raise money for them to assist them in maintaining their services for our community.”

With ticket numbers already looking positive, Miss Davies said the ball would be a great social opportunity for the region.

There will be live entertainment at the event, with musical acts Billy Pitt and Route 37 combining forces for the night.

Miss Davies said the ball wouldn’t be possible without all of the local people and businesses chipping in to help bring it together.

The fully licensed bar will be operated by the Walgett Show Committee, with some of the proceeds going towards the event’s chosen charity.

Food is also expected to be a huge highlight for the night, with local business Silo and Co catering the event.

Tickets are $90 and can be purchased from local Walgett store, A Stone’s Throw via cash. You can also direct debit money for tickets until Friday 2:00 pm. More ticket and event details can be found on the Walgett Triple O Ball facebook page. You can also email Alice on: alidavies98@hotmail.com
