IN one of the strongest autumn store sheep sales this April, 3500 sheep yarded and sold to a quite dearer market at the Narromine store sheep sale today.
Store lambs sold very well to restockers who no doubt have some spare pasture and/.or cheap grain on hand and who could see the opportunity to ether fatten or hold as woolcutters.
A consignment from Alan Dick, Heywood Station, Cunnamulla, Queensland, topped the store lamb market at $126 a head for 180 White Suffolk/Merino cross mixed sex lambs, August/September 2016 drop unshorn selling to the Wellington district.
The Dutfield family, Stockyard”, gained $114 a head for 166 first and second cross White Suffolk cross lambs June/July 2016 drop off shears while another pen of 117 head made $113.
The Smith family’s “Eumalga”, Warren gained $112 a head for 118 first cross mixed sex November/December 201`6 drop unshorn store lambs.
The Langford family, “Springwood”, topped the first cross section at $196 for 95 June/July 2016 drop, March shorn unjoined ewes to a Forbes restocker.
Robert Perry, “Bonnie Doone”, Marthaguy, topped the Merino section with a pen of 219 ewes of Haddon Rig blood, 3 ½ years old, August shorn, selling to Paul Higgins, “Ferndale”, Crookwell, who will join them to Border Leicester rams for first cross production.
