AFTER seven days at the Sydney Royal Show and hundreds of Instagram posts the St Catherine’s Catholic College cattle team has stormed home with a win in The Land’s #SchoolsOnShow competition.
As the winning school St Catherine’s, based in Singleton in the Hunter Valley, has won one tonne of feed courtesy of Alexander Downs for its agricultural department.
Cattle show team manager and agriculture teacher Joanne Towers said normally when the team heads off for a show she takes the phones off the students.
But this time they were encouraged to put their phones to good use – and get posting on their Instagram page, @stcathscattleteam.
“The students really enjoyed the good feeling of the show,” Ms Towers said.
She said there was an excitement and energy around the cattle lawns at the Royal that couldn’t be found at other agricultural shows.
More than 20 schools took part in the competition, posting more than 700 photos and videos during the course of the show.
