Michael Traynor has attended every Royal Sydney Show since he was five years old.
Now in his 72nd year, Mr Traynor said he has enjoyed every moment of his association with the annual showcase of everything that is wonderful about the bush.
Born and raised in Balmain, Mr Traynor, is now retired after a career in the meat industry culminating in operating as livestock buyer for Breakout River Meats in Cowra, but still spends as much time as he can at the Royal Sydney Show.
Reflecting on the place the show has in modern society, Mr Traynor believes it will be relevant for many years to come.
I regret the move from Moore Park with all the atmosphere and tradition, he said.
The city is possibly losing a bit of touch with the agricultural society.
[But] there will always be that connection where the bush comes to the city, and I think it will go for many years to come.
